In this latest project for Whitemountain, the client wanted to increase security and enhance health and safety at Ballystockart Quarry in Comber, Newtownards. With dangerous machinery and HGV vehicles coming and going throughout the day, limiting access to visitors and unauthorised persons is crucial.
As part of the safety upgrades at the Quarry our perimeter security team were contracted to replace the existing manual swings gates at the main entrance with an automatic security gate and access control system..
The entrance to the quarry has a 9 metre wide opening to ensure heavy vehicles have enough room to manoeuvre comfortably from the road into the site. When the opening is this wide a sliding gate is most commonly used.
We supplied and installed a 9m x 2.4m Heras Safeglide2 cantilever sliding gate, coated with mesh infill and colour-coated to the client’s specification.
For entry and exit the gate was fitted with a built-in timer that automatically opens the gate in the morning and closes at night. A loop for free exit will open the gate from the inside. For access outside of regular opening hours, we installed a GSM Dialler. To access, the user calls the number of a SIM card contained within the GSM controller which instructs the gate to open. The gate will then automatically close once the vehicle has passed through.
Highly suited for industrial, commercial and logistics sites, Andrew Seay, Sales Manager for Breezemount spoke of the Safeglide2’s impressive safety features, “This cantilever sliding gate has been extensively tested by the manufacturers, Heras. It not only offers optimum safety but also long-lasting reliability under the most stressful conditions, making it the ideal security gate for this type of application”.
Our in-house design team produced a bespoke solution to meet the clients exact requirements. Robust and reliable the Safeglide2 cantilever gate will ensure maximum security and smooth operation at all times. Complete with safety features the gate systems are fully compliant with BS/EN12453.
